Low Carb Quiche
Quiche is no doubt one of the all-time favorite dishes especially during family dinners; this dish is easy and fast to prepare and the ingredients are easily available. However, with the trend of cutting the calories, some would prefer to have a low-carb quiche but quiche is made of a pie crust, egg, cream, cheese and some meat which makes it a little fattening.
When we say low-carb quiche, the most common recipe is the crustless quiche. After all, the crust is the main source of carbohydrates in this dish. It may sound peculiar for some, but there are many crustless quiches served which still tastes and looks the same as the regular quiche. If you are not comfortable with crustless, you can still have a low-carb quiche by using a “torta” or frittata as your crust which is thinner and has much lesser carbohydrates.
Aside from making a crustless quiche, you can make a low-carb quiche by using ingredients that are low in carbohydrates and less starchy. The easiest way is to choose less starchy vegetables like broccoli, spinach and chard; stay away from quiches that use corn. You may also choose to lessen or eliminate cheese in you recipe or use milk instead of cream.
